Current News...

October 7, 2016

October is National Car Care Month.  Cold weather is approaching and now is the time to have your vehicle checked for the harsh winter weather.  Tire pressures will drop as a result of colder temperatures.  Whenever we service your vehicle we always adjust your tire pressures to the vehicle's specification.  We test the antifreeze-coolant PH quality and freeze point concentration along with inspecting belt(s) and hose(s) condition.  We assess the tire condition for proper tread depth to maintain good traction while driving during inclemate weather.  We also inspect the steering, suspension, brakes and drivetrain components for wear and degredation.  Batteries tend to show their weakness in extreme weather conditions, so we test your battery to avoid a potential no start incident.  Wiper blades tend to be an item that is forgotten until the need arises.  We always check the blade condition and operation as well as the exterior lights to further promote safe driving conditions.  Lastly, we road test your vehicle to check for anything unusual.  Give us a call to schedule your vehicle in for a winter check-up

December 2015

The weather has been unseasonably warm thanks to the strong El Nino weather pattern we are experiencing this year.  Don't be lulled into complacency when it comes to making sure your vehicles are ready for winter.  With the few cold days we have had to date, we have experienced a few unexpected visits due to dead batteries, low tires and such.  Now is the time to have your vehicle checked for the harsh winter weather being forecast.  Tire pressures tend to drop as the temperature drops.  While servicing your vehicle we always adjust your tire pressures to the vehicle specification.  At this time of year, we test the antifreeze quality and freeze point concentration along with belt and hose condition.  We assess the tire condition for proper tread depth to maintain good traction while driving during inclemate weather and inspect steering, suspension, brakes and drivetrain components. Give us a call to schedule your vehicle in for a thorough winter check-up.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to all of our loyal customers and site visitors.  Please drive safely and may 2016 be a happy, healthy and prosperous one!

Put your car keys beside your bed at night.

Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check-out girl at the market, everyone you run across.  Put your car keys beside your bed at night.  If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

April is National Car Care month. With warmer weather approaching, now is a good time to make sure your vehicles are ready for summer weather and those vacations. Check your A/C when the temperature approaches 80 degrees and be sure to read our blog entitled "Vent Those Toxins" if you haven't done so already.

With gasoline at historical prices, properly maintaining your vehicle is more important than ever. Check your tire pressures regularly as underinflated tires create additional rolling resistence resulting in lower fuel economy. We recommend a monthly interval for most drivers. Don't run on fumes! Try to maintain the fuel tank level no lower than 1/4 tank to avoid stress on the electrical fuel pump located in the tank on most vehicles.

We are here to help you with all of you automotive needs.

Today we had the privilege of meeting a very special family, Dorian Hollman and his mother Deanna. At the age of 4 years old, in May of 2007, Dorian was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer (Anaplastic Ependymoma). Our paths have crossed due to our involvement as a NAPA Service Pros member shop. Last fall our NAPA group voted unanimously to give back to the communities that have supported us throughout the years. As a result, we are now sponsoring families with children battling cancer through the B+ Foundation. Each member shop has made a commitment to provide charitable repairs to the family vehicle to help offset their transportation expenses. Please visit the associated links and let your heart guide you in supporting a very worthy cause.

We have been tracking a substantial increase in vehicles we service having expired tags. Especially those purchased 5 years ago. This is due to Delaware Motor Vehicle not mailing expiration notices as they have in the past. It would have been prudent for them to send out one final notice informing the general public that the program was being terminated for monetary reasons. On the flip side it has created a substantial revenue generator in collecting those late fees. IMO, not a great way to further improve your image.

They say the engine control module is to blame which is built by Delphi and will be replaced free of charge to the consumer.

Remember the Ford Pinto? Well now the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration is investigating as many as 3 million Jeep Grand Cherokees produced between 1993 and 2004 for fuel tank fires caused by rear end collisions.

Mazda is recalling more than 300,000 Mazda3 and Mazda5 sedans and vans in North America to fix problems with the power-steering system that could lead to a crash, a problem the automaker addressed in Japan a year ago.
